Why am I still touching this?

Hey Reader,

You hired help.

You have a transaction coordinator, assistant, VA, marketing person—or maybe an entire team.

So why are you still touching everything?

That’s one of the first things I look for when I’m working with an agent or team leader.

Because delegation isn’t simply handing someone a task.

It means that person owns the outcome without you constantly checking, reminding, fixing, following up, or eventually taking it back.

And if you keep stepping back in, I want you to ask a different question:

Why?

Is there no clear owner?

Are you afraid they’ll make a mistake?

Is the process unclear?

Did the system break?

Or are you simply doing it because you’ve always done it?

I created a short Delegation Audit Worksheet to help you figure that out.

It will walk you through:

  • What you personally touched in the last seven days
  • What actually requires you to do it
  • Why you stepped back into the task
  • Who should own it instead
  • The one thing you should stop doing this week

Don’t try to delegate twenty things after you complete it.

Pick one.

Define the owner.

Define the outcome.

Define when it should come back to you.

That’s how you start getting yourself out of the middle of your own business.

Best,
